Workshop for families with children aged 7 to 12

Sunday morning from 10.30 to 12.30, starting 19 March

We take a special tour of the Bill Viola. Electronic Renaissance exhibition to look at the artist’s large video installations and the works of the great masters of the past that inspired them. Bill Viola uses people’s gestures, faces and movements to probe their feelings and their relationships; the videos provide a starting point for adults and children to share their personal takes on the works.

After touring the exhibition, we go on to reflect and to experiment in the workshop with the expressive potential of our own bodies, and to go from there to building a new family work of art.

This activity requires that adults and children take part together: we look at some of the exhibits on display in the exhibition rooms, sharing our observations and opinions, then wind up the tour in the workshop where a creative activity completes the experience.
