Thursday for Young People

A special guided visit

18 January 2018 time 19:00

Thursday 21 December 2017 and Thursday 18 January 2018, from 19.00 to 22.00

Two special evenings in which young students from two secondary schools in the Florence area offer visitors to the The Cinquecento in Florence and Radical Utopias exhibitions their personal take on the artist and the exhibits on display.

Thursday for Young People is a scheme designed to offer upper secondary schools an opportunity for a formative experience in which students can work on their ability to communicate art through direct interaction with the works of art themselves.
The schools involved this year are the Liceo Artistico di Porta Romana in Florence and the Istituto Ernesto Balducci of Pontassieve.

The activity is free with the exhibition ticket and in Italian language only.

Thursday for Young People is part of the School-Work Alternation at Palazzo Strozzi project, a year-long school-work alternation scheme for secondary schools in the Florence municipal area.

Since its inception, the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi has clearly declared its mission to be ‘not just exhibitions’. Exhibitions at Palazzo Strozzi have been considered a means to reach the Fondazione’s main goal: to help make Florence a dynamic contemporary city, and thereby contribute to renewed quality tourism, increased economic growth, and a better quality of life for its citizens. The Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi uses its exhibitions to create exciting new ways for tourists and citizens alike to explore the city, the county and the entire region of Tuscany. These innovative programmes include special itineraries, guided visits to the studios of contemporary artists, travelling street theatre performances and international conferences. The main ‘laboratory’ is the Palazzo Strozzi, but the experiments happen throughout the city and beyond.
