2006-2026

From 2006 to 2026, Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi has established itself as one of Italy’s leading cultural institutions for the production of major exhibitions and international art projects, thanks to an innovative management model based on collaboration between public institutions and private partners. Since its founding, the Fondazione has combined tradition and experimentation through an exhibition program spanning ancient to contemporary art, bringing together the Piano Nobile, Strozzina, and Courtyard in a single cultural ecosystem characterized by an ongoing commitment to research, cultural production, and engagement with the present.

Over the past twenty years, the Fondazione has organized more than 70 exhibitions, displayed over 500 artworks, collaborated with more than 100 museums and institutions worldwide, and welcomed over 3 million visitors. Its program has ranged from major exhibitions dedicated to Renaissance masters, such as Pontormo and Rosso Fiorentino, Bronzino, Verrocchio, Donatello, and Fra Angelico, and leading figures of modern art, including Pablo Picasso and Mark Rothko, to projects featuring some of the world’s most prominent contemporary artists, including Ai Weiwei, Marina Abramović, Olafur Eliasson, and Tracey Emin.

Alongside its exhibitions, the Fondazione has placed the values of accessibility, education, participation, and inclusion at the heart of its mission, developing an extensive program of activities for schools, universities, families, young people, and adults, with particular attention to people with disabilities and audiences at risk of exclusion.
