Educare al presente

Educare al presente is a programme of activities for upper secondary schools in Tuscany consisting of encounters on contemporary art and culture in the classroom. The project, devised by the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi, is implemented in conjunction with, and with the support of, Publiacqua.

Educare al presente began in 2011 with the Regione Toscana with the idea of promoting familiarity with contemporary artistic practices in the classroom and of enhancing art’s ability to stimulate a reflection on the time we live in. Previous editions have included pathways exploring major topical issues such as the spread of social media and the economic crisis, interpreted through the depiction of the themes in art in recent years.

STRUCTURE OF THE PROJECT

The pathways offered for the academic year 2019/20 are designed for years 3°, 4° and 5° and focus on the relationship between man, the environment and natural resources. Each pathway comprises three encounters in the classroom lasting two hours each.

The encounters in the classroom are conduct by expert museum educators and scientific experts. The encounters can be held from October 2019 to February 2020, either during or outside school hours.

The pathways in the classroom are free of charge. Teachers can complete the experience by accompanying their students to Palazzo Strozzi to visit one of the exhibitions on during the academic year 2019/20.

This offer is limited. Each school can apply for a maximum of two pathways.
Activities may be held until March 2020.
