Speak loud – Fra Angelico Learning Italian through art

Art exhibitions are places to explore history, reflect on the present, and experience beauty. They can also become stimulating environments for learning a foreign language.

Speak Loud is a project by Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi for anyone studying Italian who wants to use the setting of an exhibition to express themselves freely, expand their vocabulary, and put into practice what they’ve learned in the classroom through direct engagement with art.

The activity unfolds in two parts: an introduction designed to create the right context for discussion and to share the vocabulary that will be used, followed by a visit to the exhibition, in front of the works of Fra Angelico. The experience among the artworks sparks conversations about Renaissance art, our relationship with the culture of the past, the city of Florence, and our own experiences—while making use of both “new and familiar” words.

The activity is tailored to the language level of each group. Preparatory materials are shared at the time of booking to be used in class before the visit to Palazzo Strozzi.
