Tours and Workshops for Schools Kindergarten, primary school, lower and upper secondary school

To tie in with the Natalia Goncharova. A Woman of the Avant-garde with Gauguin, Matisse and Picasso (28 September–12 January 2020) exhibition, tours of the show will be combined with workshop activities devised for kindergarten, primary and lower and upper secondary schools.

The workshop activity complements the guided tour of the exhibition and offers students a change to use the stimuli they have received from the exhibits in an independent or group experience.

PREPARING THE VISIT TO THE EXHIBITION
To tie in with the exhibition, special information material will be prepared for schools and teachers listing the works observed and the themes addressed during the school tours, along with suggestions for preparing students for the visit. The material will be available soon.

The tour is tailored to cater for each specific age group. The activity lasts 1 hour 30 minutes and costs € 52 (for groups of max. 25 students), in addition to the price of admission (€ 4 per student). EXHIBITION TOURS WITH WORKSHOP

KINDERGARTEN AND FIRST AND SECOND YEAR PRIMARY SCHOOL CLASSES
1hr 30 mins / 2hrs (exhibition tour with workshop), cost € 72

Flight of Colours
Palazzo Strozzi is renewing its attention to preschool and early primary school children by devoting its energy to activities designed to ensure that its exhibitions are accessible even to society’s youngest members. Natalia Goncharova’s vibrant palette plays the leading role in a narrative that unfolds inside the exhibition to explore the relationship between form and colour and ending in a workshop. The activity is tailored to cater for each specific age group.

PRIMARY SCHOOL (Years 3, 4 and 5)
2 hrs (tour of the exhibition and workshop), cost € 72

Exploring of the Boundaries of Art
What are the boundaries of a work of art? Where can an artist’s creative energy stop? If we understand art to be an experience rather than a mere tangible object, it can step outside the boundaries of its frame and right into our daily lives. Taking our cue from the exceptional story and unconventional personality of Natalia Goncharova, pupils take part in a journey to explore the possibilities of art, alternating the use of different techniques and materials from painting to body art.

LOWER SECONDARY SCHOOL
2 hrs (tour of the exhibition and workshop), cost € 72

Champions of Style
The tour for lower secondary school students focuses on Natalia Goncharova’s ability to shift around between the styles and movements that characterised European art in the early 20th century. After the tour, students turn their hand to the creation of a collective object spawned by the transformation of the marks and materials that make up Natalia Goncharova’s works.

UPPER SECONDARY SCHOOL
2 hrs (tour of the exhibition and workshop), cost € 72

Art Without a Label
Classes can supplement their tour of the exhibition with a spell in the workshop for a total of 2 hours. This optional part consisting of an activity based on cooperative work aims to trigger a reflection comparing artists and the arts, a reflection on the concept of artistic cross-contamination and on transcending the concept of category.
