Speak Loud – Rohko in Firenze
Learning Italian through art
from 14 March 2026
to 23 August 2026
Art exhibitions offer a space to engage with the history of the past and reflect on the present. They are places where visitors can experience the power of aesthetics, and at the same time, they can become stimulating environments for learning a foreign language.
Speak Loud is a project developed by Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi for anyone studying Italian who would like to use the setting of an exhibition as a space to express themselves freely, learn new vocabulary, and build on the language skills acquired in the classroom through a direct encounter with art.
The activity is structured in two parts: an introductory session designed to create the ideal setting for discussion and to share the vocabulary that will be explored during the visit, followed by a second part that takes place in the galleries in front of the works of Mark Rothko. The journey through the exhibition Rothko in Florence provides an opportunity to talk about emotions, about our relationship with art and culture, and about everyday experiences, using both new and familiar vocabulary.
The activity is adapted to the language level of each group. At the time of booking, teachers receive preparatory materials to use in the classroom before the visit to Palazzo Strozzi.
