Eighty-four days separate Sunday 8 March, Palazzo Strozzi’s first lockdown day, from Monday 1 June, the day we reopened.
In this period, our institution faced an unusual challenge: the lack of a direct interaction with works of art that normally lies at the very base of the work we do.
This has prompted us to devise a new project, In Touch. The palazzostrozzi.org website blog was turned into a platform of words, images, videos, stories and further reading open to all, thus creating a new interaction with our audience in an effort to ‘remote-trigger’ a debate through the language that we know best, the language of art.
This scheme took its cue from the Tomás Saraceno. Aria exhibition which allowed us to talk about possible presents and futures, about connection and isolation, about participation and meditation: a more topical debate than ever to allow us to promote new visions of the future and of reality.
From 1 June 2020, In Touch has became a regular column about our exhibitions. Like every cultural institution eager to talk about its own era, Palazzo Strozzi is committed to addressing the most relevant and topical issues of our time, so that every exhibition and activity we produce provides us with an opportunity to explore the world we live in an increasingly contemporary vein.
